Ask AnchorBlanc: Top 10 Boyband Songs for a Wedding

Growing up has always been all about trying to hide our secret love for the Boybands. We all love them, don't we? And the true point of enlightenment is when you have listened to so many of them until they all sound the same. Here is our Top 10 picks for awesome songs in the 90s, and we can sing them for you at your wedding too. Presenting, the Top 10 Boyband Songs for a wedding!

Truly Madly Deeply - Savage Garden

My fondest memories of this was skating at the Ice Skating Rink with my friends in Kallang Leisure Park while this song was playing. Absolutely the best feeling in the world. On hindsight, I realised this song was playing every single time I was there. Maybe back then, the MP3 player or the Discman had limited space..

I Do (Cherish You) - 98 Degrees

Wow. this song is an absolute staple for weddings. Its one of those songs that most people would forget about its existence, but once you start singing it, all the awesome memories of their childhood starts coming back.

I Want it That Way - Backstreet Boys

If you want to bring out any woman's inner teenager, start singing this song. Like a cat to catnip, even the most seasoned, hardened corporate females, can't resist the urge to sing along to "You are.... my fire....." Even guys too. Guy. Alright its just me, alright?

My Love - Westlife

Back then, when the Internet wasn't fully developed and full of easily accessible lyrics, I genuinely thought that they were singing in the chorus, "So I standddd in the rain" instead of the correct "So i say a little prayer". I went on in later years to sing that live at my gigs. I have brought shame to my family.

Like a Rose - A1

Amidst all the raging band wars, there was a band that quietly rose to the surface and just killed it with one song - Like a Rose. Also, I love how their MTV already looks like those pirated KTV videos without even trying.

This I Promise You - *NSYNC

Back then when all the Boy Bands were focusing more on strong, mixed vocals, Justin Timberlake was one of the first few who stood out with his falsetto, making a strong mark in the music scene back then. I used this song to xian zha bor last time, but sadly, now I just use it for work. :(

I'll Make Love To You - Boyz II Men

I'm not too sure if this counts as a Boy Band as these boys have already turned into men according to their band name. But what really makes this song stand out is how, in a period where our parents and the censorship boards were very conservative, this song explicitly talking about sexy time somehow made it past all the censorships and got to our radios. It must have been how wholesome all their voices sounded. Presentation guys. That is the key.

流心雨 - F4

Yes, I have googled. Yes, F4 is considered a boyband. I absolutely love this song and so do many audiences that we have performed this for at weddings. Its just really nostalgic, and triggers this primal, deeply wired response to start taking out your phones and waving your flashlights. Its just that kind of song. I also like how my hair resembled theirs when the government didn't allow us to cut hair during Covid 19.

Everyday I Love You - Boyzone

I really wanted to include Ronan Keating's "When You Say Nothing at All" here, but I guess its not exactly a boy band song, so it doesn't cut this list. That being said, this is still a wonderful meaningful song. One of those songs that nobody knows the title, but once you start singing it, they all go "ohh that song...."

I Swear - All-4-One

Everybody asks me who is All-4-One. But the moment I say "Its the Minions Song", everybody knows! If you had watched Despicable Me 2, you would have seen the minions deliver this beautiful classic, unfortunately in around 2 octaves higher. Jokes aside, this is a song from our childhood that we will never forget.
